There are four cable cars in Špindlerův Mlýn, two of which operate regularly in the summer – in Svatý Petr to Pláň and to Medvědín. They offer a comfortable journey to the higher reaches of the Krkonoše Mountains and beautiful views without unnecessary effort.
The cable cars are ideal for walkers and cyclists, they allow the transport of bicycles and strollers and serve as a great starting point for hikes and descents into the valley.
Cable car St. Peter – Pláň
The six-seater cable car in Svatý Petr takes you to Pláň, at an altitude of 1185 m above sea level. Pláň is a major tourist hub and starting point for many hiking and cycling trips. From here, you can head towards the Na Rozcestí cottage and further to Luční bouda or up to Sněžka, or in the opposite direction to Strážné.
You can go on shorter nature trails with your children, such as the Moss Path or the Animal Ride. If you just want to relax, enjoy the beautiful views and keep the kids entertained, you can visit the panoramic Na Pláni restaurant with a terrace and a nearby playground.
The cable car is in operation according to the summer timetable, which can be found on the website www.skiareal.cz.
Medvědín Cable Car
The four-seater cable car to Medvědín will take you from Špindlerův Mlýn almost to the top of the mountain of the same name at an altitude of approximately 1235 m above sea level. The lower station is located at an altitude of around 743 m above sea level, so you will overcome an elevation of almost 500 meters during the ride.
The peak of Medvědín is one of the popular starting points for hiking and cycling trips in the Krkonoše Mountains. From here you can continue, for example, to the source of the Elbe River, to Vrbatova bouda, or take the ridge paths towards Horní Mísečky or further to the western part of the Krkonoše Mountains.
The surroundings also offer beautiful panoramic views of the Krkonoše ridges and, with good visibility, the wider area. In the summer season, the cable car also transports bicycles, making it a suitable starting point for cycling routes in this part of the mountains.
The cable car is in operation according to the current summer timetable, which is available on the website www.skiareal.cz.
